Which is the best way to charge the PSP battery for maximum longevity?

I recently got one from a friend and I’d like to know the best way to take care of it… If i’m playing at home, should I keep it on the charger while I’m playing it, or is it better to play off the battery and charge it when it’s powered off? Should I charge it from a half charge or let it drain completely? Any other tips or sites on how to take care of it would be appreciated, thanks!

its always best to power it off and charge
