How important is longevity to you?

longevity
psychologist430 asked:

A lot of people say they want to live longer but I am curious to find out if their behavior indicates so such as the foods you eat, exercise and addictions some people have. And do you think genetics plays more of a factor when compared to life style choices?

  1. Romeo says:

    Long life is important to me in fulfilling long term goals and continuously gaining knowledge.
    I don’t think that there is any question that lifestyle choices affect your health either for better or worse.
    Scientist now know that certain genes play a role in determining length of life.
    However;
    I believe that you will live as many years as God gives you. I know of a man who smoked cigarettes for 50 years, quit smoking at about 70 years and lived to almost 100. We all know that smoking is very bad for health, so how do you explain his long life?

    I care more about quality of life than longevity. I eat healthily and exercise regularly so that I (hopefully) will not get diabetes, heart disease, or cancer. Although lifestyle is important, I think that genes play a large part in how long you will live.
